At over 3,000 meters, Titlis welcomes around 1.1 million visitors each year. Decades of expansion have created a complex infrastructure that no longer meets current needs for capacity, orientation, and circulation. Herzog & de Meuron’s masterplan rethinks the summit as an integrated architectural ensemble, retaining and reusing key existing structures while replacing parts of the mountain station and significantly improving energy performance.
Tai Kwun transforms Hong Kong’s former police, magistracy and prison compound into a public centre for heritage and arts. The project preserves and reactivates its historic courtyards and buildings while introducing two clearly contemporary volumes. Rather than copying the past, the new architecture works with the existing fabric, creating new cultural spaces, connections and public life through reuse, contrast and continuity.
